Not sure if you'll get this, Eugene, but I actually linked him to those during an AIM conversation. Every so often I go back and watch them again... they're great ;).

Ah, finally found a link for the 2006 video. Going to watch that now.

You know, at the risk of "identifying" the friend here, you really have gotten better than me. You're at a lower initial weight than I was, though. One thing you should do is weigh yourself. As I said before you might not necessarily lose weight since I do a lot of things besides just Stepmania, but curiosity at least after the month, since you did begin with weighing yourself. Anyway, earlier today I tried a few six-foots, mostly the "standard difficulty" upgrades of four- or three-foots I did before. As is their wont, some were more doable than others.

I don't know what paranoia survivor really looks like, but the "insane" song I own is Wily's castle, which has about forty billion arrows every second (or at least it feels like). I have played it... I can get maybe 10% of the arrows.

For my own progress I'm more and more adept at four foots and starting to ease forward. Billie Jean four-foot is too demanding at present, though, compared to some of the five-foots I do play. I'm continuing to lose weight and accomplishing some other goals I'm proud of (heavy resistance biking for 10 minutes continuously with my heart rate in the 150s and my RPM in the 90s or even a little above 100) and DDR is just a piece of my smorgasboard here, so the fact that I'm advancing slowly is fine as long as I'm advancing.

I'm not sure what your final post will be, so let me just say this now. You've definitely given this your all, both exploring the arcade and at-home gaming and not only making yourself try the game but making yourself get quite good at it. Whatever judgment you make is bound to be sound as long as it isn't coated in TOO much snark to be found :).
