The fact is, Stepmania is a fan-based creation. Sort of the replic Enterprise for Trekkies. What's you're missing from actual DDR, is the instructons, the tutorial modes, the practice modes, everything that makes DDR easier to understand. They expect you to know how to play if you're on Stepmania. I'm just pointing out that by taking the cheap route, you are in a way not getting the whole picture, and due for some unforeseen confusion/anger.
